Fortified by natural hills, Amber's magnificent palaces are distinctly Rajput, but it's clear that Moghul ideas crept in to influence the design. The practice of covering walls with mosaics of mirrors is purely Moghul, first introduced to India at Agra and Fathepur Sikri. The might Amber Fort was built in 1600. Afternoon visit City Palace, open to the public as the Sawai Man Singh Museum, stands enclosed by a high wall in the centre of the city amid fine gardens and courtyards. The royal family still occupies part of the palace, advancing in procession on formal occasions through the grand Tripolia Gate in the centre of the southern wall. The palace was conceived and built by Jai Singh, but many of the apartments and halls were added by his successors. Arrive Agra and upon arrival visit Agra Fort, The high red sandstone ramparts of Agra Fort dominate a bend in the River Yamuna, 2km northwest of the Taj Mahal. Akbar laid the foundations of this majestic citadel, built between 1565 and 1573 in the form of a half moon, on the remains of earlier Rajput fortifications. Agra Fort developed as the seat and stronghold of the Moghul Empire for successive generations: Akbar constructed the walls and gates, his grandson, Shah Jahan, had most of the principal buildings erected, and Aurangazeb, the last great emperor, was responsible for the ramparts. Later visit the most beautiful monument of love the Taj Mahal, described by the Indian classical poet Tagore as a "tear on the face of eternity", the Taj Mahal is undoubtedly the zenith of Moghul architecture and quiet simply one of the World's most marvelous buildings. Overlooking the River Yamuna, and visible from the Agra Fort in the west, the Taj Mahal stands at the northern end of vast gardens enclosed by walls. Though its layout follows a distinctly Islamic theme, representing paradise, it is above all a monument to romantic love. Shah Jahan built the Taj to enshrine the body of his favorite wife, Arjumand Bann Begum, better known as Mumtaz Mahal ("elect of the palace"), who died shortly after giving birth to her 14th child in 1631. The shah was devastated by her death, and set out to create an unsurpassed, eternal monument to her memory. Of all the Moghuls, only Shah Jahan, who had been designing palaces and forts since the age of sixteen, could have come up with such a magnificent design. The construction started in 1632 and completed in 1653 with a workforce of some 22,000 men from all over Asia. Overnight stay at Hotel.
